FIRST STAR: Ty Conklin, G, St. Louis
The Blues backup goalie was outstanding with a 34-save effort for his 13th career shutout in his team’s 2-0 road win against the struggling Flames. Calgary has now dropped seven in a row.
SECOND STAR: Chris Conner, RW, Pittsburgh
Conner was summoned from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the morning to replace an injured Bill Guerin in the lineup for that night's game against the New York Rangers. He didn't arrive in Manhattan until 3 p.m., and was then placed on a line with Sidney Crosby. The call-up didn’t disappoint, scoring two goals in the Penguins' 4-2 win at Madison Square Garden.
THIRD STAR: Brad Lukowich, D, Vancouver
Daniel Sedin probably deserves the third star, but we’ll give it to Lukowich for converting Sedin’s perfect through-the-legs drop pass for his second career game-winner in Vancouver's 3-2 victory against the Buffalo Sabres. Lukowich’s first goal since Nov. 7, 2007, when he was with the Tampa Bay Lightning, propelled the Canucks to their league-leading 22nd home victory.
